Whether it’s their technology, marketing or commitment to the archery industry as a whole, Mathews Archery stands head and shoulders above most of its competitors. They’ve been around for 30 years now and, since the beginning, they’ve been one of the most innovative companies in the bowhunting business.

Mathews Archery: Pioneering Excellence in Bow Manufacturing

Matt McPherson started the company in 1992 based on his Solocam bow, but the seeds to one of the biggest names in the industry were planted much earlier than that. His passion for archery started at age 6, when he was building his first stick bow and then his first compound three years later. His determination to build a better bow pushed him forward, and that same drive is the fuel for all of Mathews Archery’s innovation today.

One of the reasons that Mathews has continued to innovate year after year is its ability to work closely with its dealer network to ensure its latest technology finds its way into the hands of the bowhunters who need it most. From the top-of-the-line flagship V3X to the affordable Z3, Mathews has a bow for every bowhunter.

The new Image is a great example of the company’s commitment to innovation and the ability of its dealers to work together to bring it to market. For example, the new limb pockets on this bow are made of Gordon Glass and are heavily pre-loaded to create a past-parallel position at rest, which studies show reduces shock, vibration and noise. To make the limb pockets, Mathews needed to change the production process, and that’s where its dealers came in. Using Makino horizontal milling machines, they were able to shorten cycle times by 40 percent.
